Canine Influenza Notice

Subject: Canine Influenza Notice

Dear Clients and Friends of Nasa Pet Hospital,

We have recently learned of multiple cases of Canine Influenza H3N2 in the Webster/Clear Lake and surrounding area. This communication serves to notify and advise you how to appropriately respond.

We are providing the following information from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to help you determine if your dog is at risk:

“…the risk of any dog being exposed to the canine influenza virus depends on that dog’s lifestyle. Dogs that are frequently or regularly exposed to other dogs – for example at boarding or day care facilities, dogs parks, grooming salons, or social events with other dogs present – are at greater risk of coming in contact with the virus. Also, as with other infectious diseases, extra precautions may be needed with puppies, elderly or pregnant dogs, and dogs that are immunocompromised.”

Please contact our office to schedule vaccination of your dog if you feel that it is at risk. Our Doctors are recommending that at risk dogs be vaccinated with both the H3N2 and H3N8 Influenza strains

Sincerely,

The Veterinarians at Nasa Pet Hospital
